Bulgaria is famous for producing rose oil and rose water from the legendary Rosa Damascena grown in the Rose Valley. Located south of the Balkan Mountains, this region offers the perfect climate and conditions for growing roses.
Rose petals are still to this day carefully collected by hand to produce one of Bulgaria’s most precious exports. From late May to early June Bulgaria celebrates the rose picking season with the annual rose festival. The rose festival takes place in the surrounding towns and villages and includes ancient rituals and a colourful festival parade.
Rose water is often produced as a by-product of the distillation of rose essential oil. Although this doesn’t make the rose water unnatural in any way, it is not its purest form. To truly benefit from the rose’s natural qualities, the rose water should be produced by a special distillation process directly from freshly picked organic rose petals.
Le Mont Botanique only uses this distillation process for our Organic Bulgarian Rose Water. Our aim, as it is with all our products, is to harness the plants power while fresh to maximise its incredible and unique benefits.
