Our mental state effects our health and overall wellbeing. In particular, teenage years and young adulthood are often very emotional times as we are faced with new and challenging experiences. Positive emotions, thoughts and feelings give us the indication that we are on the right path. Alternatively, when we feel dissatisfaction and disappointment, subconsciously we are burdened with feeling stressed and searching for a solution which can negatively affect our health.
Even mild emotional trauma can negatively affect our hormones and our normal healthy body functions. This can cause over-production of certain hormones, followed by raising the skin secretion levels, while slowing down the skin’s natural ability to self-cleanse, which often results in acne.
Therefore, it is very important to make time for self-care every day. We can do this by surrounding ourselves with more positive emotions, simply through what we hear, see, taste, touch and smell.
