Yarrow

Yarrow

Yarrow (Latin name Achillea millefolium) is a plant you will notice everywhere in Bulgaria in late spring/early summer. Growing up to 1 metre tall, the plant has delicate white flowers and a strong, but pleasant aroma. Yarrow is most commonly known for its wound healing abilities, it is also used to stop minor bleeding, such as nose bleeds.

Taken internally, yarrow can help to regulate the menstrual cycle and reduce heavy bleeding, while its anti-inflammatory and spasmolytic properties help to ease the pain of menstrual cramps. If chewed, the root or leaves can also help ease the pain of toothache.

Yarrow is also known to cleanse the body of toxins, similar to Milk thistle, yarrow supports the liver and also aids digestion. Although bitter in taste alone, it can be delicious in a tea blend. We have chosen Bulgarian Yarrow as one of the cleansing ingredients in our Clear Skin Tea Blend.
